Can I Increase My Rental Vehicle Excess Limit?

With a 1Cover Domestic and Domestic Frequent Traveller policy you are automatically covered up to $5,000 for rental vehicle insurance excess, with the option to increase it to $10,000 by paying an additional premium.

On the other hand, with a 1Cover Comprehensive, Overseas Frequent Traveller, and Already Overseas policy, rental vehicle insurance excess coverage is not included automatically. Under these policies, you can add cover for your rental vehicle insurance excess up to $10,000 by purchasing the Rental Vehicle Insurance Excess Pack and paying an additional premium.

Depending on the circumstances, we may reimburse you up to $10,000 (depending on the level of cover you choose) for the vehicle rental excess that you incur in the event of an accident, or if the rental vehicle is damaged or stolen while in your possession.

Please be aware this benefit does not take the place of rental vehicle/car insurance, and you should always make sure car insurance is in place when hiring a car.

See our Car Rental Excess page for more details.
