We will not pay if you received private hospital or medical treatment where public funded services or care is available or under any reciprocal health care agreement between the government of New Zealand and the government of any other country unless we have agreed in advance to the private treatment.
If you need medical assistance when you’re overseas, you must contact our emergency assistance team. They can advise you on the best course of action and what you’re covered for.
If you are unsure about your treatment and don’t feel a public facility is adequate, please communicate with our medical assistance team as soon as possible.
